Born to draw pictures, learned to draw conclusions.
As an award winning illustrator her work has been described as whimsical, clever and visually engaging. Whether creating detailed and precise images or simple, loose, spontaneous work she always aims to coax a smile – knowing, cheerful or wry – a more intense feeling or a better understanding of her subject . As an illustrator every project is a new challenge to communicate an idea in its most interesting and appealing visual form.
After training as a traditional artist at Toronto’s Central Technical School in an intensive 3 year, post secondary, special art program, she began her career with pen and ink, painting and then collage work. Years later this segued into the digital realm where she now draws, paints and collages using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, approaching her work from a painter’s perspective.
KAth has developed an expert hand and eye for lettering work and enjoys the process of building words into pleasing and legible forms to elevate the aesthetic and message of the surrounding work.
