The Cockaigne Summer days of June and July have been filled with sun and the shining moon, billions of stars, glinting water, singing, soaring birds, curious deer, new friends and basil and cherries around a table with my beloved family. But also some work, hot, hard and rewarding.
Thoughts that are bittersweet as wildfires burn.
150 years this country has been confederated but for millennia it has been cherished. May our Canada acknowledge the indigenous people who evolved here within its natural environment and may we rediscover and nurture the joy and beauty it offers.

April 22nd, officially Earth Day but on this Earth Day many people marched for Science. Science present an informed perspective and offers us solutions to this environmental conundrum that we have foisted on Mother Nature. We can pat ourselves on the head for remembering Earth Day and contributing to its success but in our hearts we all know that EVERY day is Earth Day and we must be pro active. Get informed, inform others and leave a small footprint.
Hares, or rabbits, and eggs are fertility symbols. In ancient times it was widely believed that the hare was a hermaphrodite and therefore could reproduce without the loss of virginity. Since birds lay eggs and hares give birth to their litters in the early spring, they became symbols of the rising fertility of the earth at the Vernal Equinox.

A Valentine is more precious than a Christmas card. I remember the love with which I decorated my little Valentine mail pouch that was taped to my school desk and how I hoped that it would be full on Valentine's Day. It is rare to find another Valentine's Day devotee but my hope springs eternal. Wishing you a mailbox full of love!

My Mom is a beautiful and talented woman and has always been an ideal for me to work towards. My very handsome and wonderful Dad is a lucky man to have such a woman to go through life with, not that it is always easy, her standards for everything are high. She is not "like all the other mothers" and I am who I am because of her example and everything she made possible for me. She is my Mom and my friend, confident and mentor and, you guessed it, I love her so much.
